:: Wednesday, June 26, 2002 ::
i got up bright and early to make my trek to the usc hospital today. i was supposed to go without eating or drinking anything after midnight last night, and when i got there they had me drink two cups of this orange crap, the contrastor. it was like metamucil, but smelled like orange kool aid. ugh. i thought i was gonna vomit, and i wondered what that would do to the imaging.
i am then taken out to this portable in the parking lot where they keep their expensive toys. the guy who took me out was really nice and telling me exactly what was gonna happen and how it would feel. he had me wear a gown, and then asked if i was allergic to any shell fish. i am not, so he told me about the iodine injection and how it would make me feel a sensation of warmth over my body and my mouth would taste like coins and i would feel like i was about to pee. then i signed this waiver in case i died so i couldn't sue them.
he had me lie down on this table, w/ a fluffy pillow, and put a tournequette around my right arm (that is always the better arm for drawing blood). my needle phobia is waning. i got a little light headed but it was ok for the most part. these two guys kept asking me how i was feeling as if they were used to people passing out. i was brave though! hehe yeah right.
they put in the IV and then had me lift my arms above my head, and rest them on a pillow. i was pretty damn nervous because this liquid was gonna be a trip.
they had me going under the CT a lot, back and forth and this machine lady kept saying 'take a deep breath, and hold......... breathe'. it was creepy. eventually the guy came back and asked how i was and told me the iv was gonna start. he was right. it started right in my neck, and everything became warm. especially my .... down there.... i got kinda light headed and thought i'd pass out but kept saying i was fine. it was a strange physical phenomenon. i went through the CT again and then the tingling just stopped. it was a neat experience ina way.
at work i found out two other women had been scanned before, and had similar experiences. one had been scanned just SATURDAY for the same pain in the same part of her abdomen. weeeird.
now i just have to wait for my doctor to tell me the results....

:: Tuesday, June 25, 2002 ::
alex and i spent the day hangin w/ ceci and her nephew and cousin. they were a riot, all three of them running around adventure city. it was pretty fun, and ceci treated us a lot. whatta sweet lady. : ) after, we hung out at a hobby store, then a reptilian pet shop (where i saw these poor little baby mice appetizers).
we got back at dinner time, and it's kids eat free tuesday, so we went to denny's w/ terie and jordan. it was good to see terie, he's been working so much lately! then i took alex rollerblading. he'd never done it before. it was pretty funny, and we went around a few blocks and came back. hopefully he will be my new partner in crime for the rest of his visit!
now we are gonna go stop by danbaz and dan r's party w/ nick - a going away party. i won't be out long cuz the girl who lives there makes evil eyes at me. and anyways, early tomorrow is my CATscan. argh.

i forgot to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to a'ndrea!!!! SATURDAY she turned 23!!!!! and i'm a bad meggy and i didn't realize it was already the 22nd until it was the 24th! today was also rory's bday (24th) and i emailed him but i'm not sure it was the right address....
i took alex on a romantic evening to miyagi's. just the two of us. the manager offered us ice cream on the house and i got one of those watermelon complimentary shots. mmm mmm. that is the second time that had happened, i love all you can eat mondays there! turns out alex's favorites are now octopus and eel. and i did NOT tell him those are my favorites, so it was pretty nifty. he is still picky about the rest though.
we stopped by my old coffee bean and STEVE was working as usual. we got stuck in traffic from an accident and i taughth im some car-dances and perfected my scary dolly face. i got three movies for a total of $14 today - zoolander, oceans eleven, and rat race. all three i love. so tonight dano and jon s. came to watch zoolander w/ us. hopefully i will get to see more of them this week. : ) i offered one online buddy popcorn and then he invited me and my 'candy' over.
i think everyone on my buddy list is drunk. all the time.
tomorrow i am taking alex to this amusement park w/ ceci and her family. hopefully i will be awake in time. and wednesday i get another radiology exam, this time is my abdomen. turns out this thing is more complicated than i thought it was. i thought they found it, they could give me antiobiotics, it would go away. but that is not how it works. they dont' even know what it is that is causing the pain! she brings up how they don't like to have to do surgery on someone so young! grrreat. lately i have been feeling kinda nauseous pretty often, and the pain is more constant. but it's constant enough to be numbing, not the sharp irregular jabs. i am getting so used to it that i find myself at work just moving on like it's a headache of sorts, and usually it works when i ignore it. but if there is something wrong i can't keep ignoring it cuz i dont want any permanent damage. my body is trying to tell me something but the system works so slow in these medical places that i can't do anything but try to act like it's ok. at least my emotions are under control now, and i am 200% more optimistic than i was just last month. i dont imagine myself swerving off the freeway anymore, that's a good sign.

saturday i went to a party on 29th - as usual. and i didn't drink again. i'm on a roll. i have been pretty cool w/ this paxil and i dont wanna drink, cuz i dont wanna mess up the feeling. kinda weird, cuz i usually love drinking. good thing though cuz i'm WASTED after like 2 drinks w/ this stuff. i didn't wanna stay out too late cuz i was watching movies w/ my brother and i went back to watch more.
alex and i went to ceci's on sunday. she had a bbq (asada!) w/ her whole family, and my brother swam in the pool. i even wore SHORTS! i ate something really really spicy... but the food was great. afterwards we came back to get jordan and he drove us to burbank. we stopped by the coffeebean there and went to the amc, to see STAR WARS episode II AGAIN. neither of them had seen it so i felt like i should go again. we came back and watched the frighteners.
scott p and danbaz came by w/ their jd to chill on the porch. it was good to see them again. but i wasn't out long cuz i was really sleepy and not done watching the movie w/ alex. he only comes once a year so i want to spend as much time w/ him as possible.
today i worked, and during my lunch i picked up alex. we brought cynthia back a sandwich and i showed him around the new center. i hate leaving him here all day. but maybe we are going to miyagi's tonight! hmmm all you can eat. it's been quite a while!
maybe i can take some time off to visit ruth's family in nevada. and maybe sarah will be there to come visit me here! hmmm we'll see!
