antonio banderas.
desperado.

what a week.
we moved into our new house.
i am actually still moving.
my dad's jeep had a dead battery. it is finally working and i'm waiting for jordan and my car to come and help me load up, cuz it's a two man job. MAN.
i have talked to big d twice since i was in nevada. and last night we talked for a whold two hours. i am not sure what is going on. i wanted to see him in vegas when i went up w/ peter and jordan (if that happens) but he is in seattle that weekend. mariner game. but he DOES wanna meet me there before he moves back to washington in oct. so he says. i probably should not think about him for a while. he wouldn't even fit in my car if i did want to date him, he is a whole foot taller than me and VERY proportionate. ; )

i had lunch w/ a friend from work the other day. not that i work anymore. i am just too out of sorts, all different things going on and i can't keep track of anything.
i need to be moved in by sunday so i can get all settled. anyhow it was la taquiza. her treat. so i had mulitas and horchata. MMMMMMMMM. she is up to some top secret things. how exciting : )

peter took jordan and i up to shane's new place (ariel's apartment) in los feliz. but basically it's little armenia. i checked the mail box names. he lives in a spooky haunted house. lots of fun potential. so far away though! : (

speaking of shane, he is coming tonight w/ amanda and her new roommate from whittier law school. natasha is supposed to meet up w/ us, and maybe peter, and even jeff! i hope is see some people tonight. maybe i should drink. ihaven't since my bday. very strange.

i gotta finish packing. i just ate my dinner (cheerios and chocolate syrup) and i'm up to no good tonight.
: )

tomorrow i am going to the valley to see my aunt. she has a lot planned. and she is house sitting and this sweet arse place w/ a huge pool. woopwoop. if only i knew where i packed my sun screen.

over and out

HIIIIII HO!

i am not sure where this blog has left off, but i will just start where i want.
i had an interesting weekend.
friday i missed my morning appointment. just like how i missed my thursday morning appointment.
then i was off to collect my bounty.
to no avail.
but i'm hot on the trail, i know where he works, and his managers number even. he WILL pay me. or i will make a fool out of him.

it was all uphill from there.
i took my chances and drove up north, through sacramento, to CARSON CITY! hehe. my semi-impromptu-and-very-unexpected-trip.
i love that computer poker game btw.
basically came out even 'cept for travel and food costs.

first let me explain who these people are, so you arent too confused.
ruth - 3rd grade, jefferson elementary school. she was in my class, my first year back in PA after moving around all year. we were soul mates, and it did not take me long to figure that out. we started spending a lot of time together at school, both of us were pretty shy and creative, and got along well. i used to take her long blond pigtail braids up to look like she was princess leia, or a ram. i loved that hair!
when we moved from my grandma's, we just happened to be moving right up the street from ruth and her family! so i spent ALL my time there for the next few years, and they started calling me one of their kids basically. they really helped me out a lot, they took care of me, fed me. i slept there a lot too. and just felt ... normal there.

ruth has a huge family. her mom and dad (mel and fuzzy) had a blue and white house, and grandma, ruth, emily (roxanna's age), beth (4 years younger than us?), angela (7 years older than us, and very motherly), and donny (5 years older, the only son). plus a bunch of dogs and cats and other kids that dropped in.

there were a lot of great memories in that house. and i used to go to church w/ them 1-3 times a week.
i was a good kid. hehe.

here's the story.
i left the valley at about 3:30, and there was pretty heavy traffic on the 405/5. it was hot. it was hot all the way up the 5 til stockton basically, because it was about 8pm when i got there. grrreat. but i had some bbq baked lays, a vanilla coke, and no plan. i got 'directions' to my destination en route, when i called donny from the 405. that's how sad this trip was.
but it really wasn't.
well that cow farm was sad. cows, shoulder to shoulder, and i could smell them about a mile before i even saw them.

i was too hot to eat anything but the lays, and i called donny again from a pay phone at stockton, as well as my dad who will go insane if i don't call ever few hours, and headed to reno. i pulled off after i finally got there, to see how far i was from carson city. i was tempted to just sleep there in a hotel or stay up all night in a denny's, or just nap in my car.

donny told me i wasn't far at all, maybe half an hour, and told me to call when i got into town. i called again from an am/pm and he just happened to be at a sports bar two blocks away (did i mention he played college basketball and then played on a german team?). when i got there i was feeling pretty out of it from the long, hot drive, and i ordered a HUGE iced tea (everything there was huge). donny was hanging out w/ a few friends from work, and i felt like i was intruding. after all, he didn't know i was coming til that night.

but something weird happened.

ok backflash again -
i guess i proposed to donny in fourth grade. right in front of our church.
he told me sure. as soon as my hair grew out to my ankles.
so i started to let it grow.
one day, he made fun of me for something, and i was crying in the backyard, and he came and found me and told me that he was sorry and that he would marry me when my hair was to my knees instead, as a gesture of kindness.

i am not sure what i saw in him. i would wear his big shoes (size 14?), and sometimes he and fuzzy would have ruth and i style their hair w/ a comb and cup of water. we thought we were pretty good at that!
he was an older man. tall, smart, much cooler than us, and always made fun of all of us girls about everything. i almost liked it when he teased me, cuz that meant he was paying attention to me. ah those were the days.

as time went on, i saw donny less and less. i spent less time at their house, and he spent more time doing basketball player things. eventually he went to college in tacoma, and i rarely saw him at all. but it was always a treat when i did see him. i loving staying up all night watching tv w/ him, we always outlasted ruth and everyone else.

he was always just patronizing me i think. i figured i was just a little sister to him, cuz he had so many already. and our engagement was this big joke in the family, and even to me. it was just a fun little tummy-butterfly crush.
when i was a teenager i started dating other guys, and even dated one guy for two years. during those two years we broke up for a month, and saw other people. so one night when i was sitting at the house, watching television w/ donny, something.... different.... happened.
i am not sure how it happened. maybe i was doing his hair or massaging his feet (i have a foot fetish, i'll massage anyone's feet if they aren't n-n-n-nasty). somehow we were sitting together, holding hands, and my head was on his shoulder.
HOW did this happen? weird stuff happens to me all the time, and i can't really account for all of the goings ons.

well that was that. everything was back to normal after that, and sooner or later i went to college too. i kept in contact w/ everyone by email (not very well) and learned that donny had found himself a girlfriend, and everyone in the family seemed to like her. she even wanted to marry him! eh i was like yeah go figure he's a nice guy, and will not have any trouble finding a woman. i never really got my hopes up for him, it was just a kid thing. and i realized that consciously.

ANYHOW... where am i going with this????

meanwhile back on the ranch....

so i am sitting at this sports bar, kinda uncomfortable around these nevada peoples, and trying to drink my iced tea in order to start the final portion of my trek to stagecoach (the little town where mel, fuzzy, and beth now have a house). i dont think he knew what to do with me, so he kept looking at me and starting small talk. basically he was ignoring the other three and i felt kinda like i was ruining the party. he was looking at me funny. kept staring. and the girl sitting next to him kicked his foot at one point and smiled at him. i thought maybe she was his date. i called mel on donny's cell phone and she told me how to get to their house, but i was worried i wouldn't find it on the country roads in the dark. donny's friends noticed it was about 1:30am and got up to leave, and donny turned to me and asked me if i was hungry.

so off we went to denny's.

we sat there for about four hours, eating and talking. mostly talking. we finally got to walking to the cars, and started discussing a plan of action. and here comes this fabulous toothless specimen of a local.

this guy walks up w/ one lit cigarette and one unlit, both in the same hand. he is wearing turquoise sweat pants and a leather biker VEST. and a cap. country drawl.
he has googly eyes, either he's drunk or just slow. like the rest of this god forsaken town.

hehe.

anyhow, he assumed we were talking about how great his car was. his dream car. a 55 chevy i think?? i know nothing about cars, but he was going off about how it was all stock. and as usual, donny starts out all nice but gets to arguing w/ the guy. he loves to push buttons. he thinks he knows everything. but it makes for good conversations.

anyhow this guy was a big scene for a while. then we finally started to get in our cars to get rid of him, and it was decided that i would stay at his house. i volunteered to sleep on the couch but of course - he wouldn't have that.
he is into chivalry i guess.
so he had the couch and I slept on the california king size bed. it filled up half his studio apartment almost. this was the bachelor pad of the year, and it looked like a closet cuz he was hanging up all his clothes to dry. he was pretty embarrassed too, and apologized for the mess beforehand.

we slept w/ the door open, and a fan kinda blocking it, cuz the studio was HOT. well we only SLEPT for an hour and a half, cuz we were still into talking when we were supposed to sleep. we are both kinda insomniacs. and he had to get up early for work, and told me to give him a call ... anytime ... as he left.

lucky me i also woke up when he did, because ruth called to take me to this hang gliding thing..
okeee.
turns out angela and grandma were sent for me, and neither knew how to get there. so we went to the chocolate factory instead, and i got a little bag of salt water taffees. mmm...
we never did find the rest of them, but they found us eventually at the pinon, a cute little local casino. they didn't get to hang glide either, cuz the wind was going the wrong way. i guess they would have flown into the mountain sides.
we all had lunch, and then went on to our gamblings.

ruth forgot her ID so she was watching the baseball game. meanwhile i was playing the poker game that fuzzy taught me. nickel operated computers. i made his $10 last forever but never got the $200 and eventually lost the $40 that i had built up. but i did get some comp and extra nickels for him. : ) i love the sound of nickels pouring into a cup.

fuzzy won $200 on the 'hot' machine mel had discovered. we narrowly escaped a group of guys rubbing their bellies at me.

we all (sans donny) spent the evening back at mel and fuzzy's NEW blue house. they fed me. we watched LOTR, and had a nice game of spades (beth and i won by a million and a half points). then i beat ruth at rummy, then beth started beating both of us, then i beat them both at skittles poker (until ruth ate a bunch of my loot). i got to talk to angela about her daycare, and watched ruth's video tape of their puppet shows at the vacation bible school.

as usual i laughed. a lot. and didn't sleep enough.

i went to the church w/ them sunday, cuz they were doing another puppet show.
that was the first time i'd been to church in ... 8 years??? wow.
i'm not too into church and religion if you know what i mean. not that i dont' believe in god.. but that's another blog.

anyhow i did have a good time, cuz we sang songs that i knew from before, and they said some beautiful things. everyone there was so nice and very communal, and gave ruth's family gas money for their trip back and all their hard work. they were surprised, cuz in 15 years of puppetry, no one had even thanked them that much! i was glad to see them getting some appreciation for being so caring.

well that was about it, cuz they had to go back to washington. ruth never emailed me to tell me that their trip days had changed, and they wouldnt be here THIS week but LAST week, so i didn't get to see them for long. so sunday afternoon, i met donny for lunch and had no idea where the rest of my stay would take me.

we went back to the pinon, and sat for a long time talking about friendships and attachments. then we went back to his house to watch videos.

first was 'o brother where art thou?', which i had not seen yet. i liked it - unfortunately i fell asleep about half way through cuz i was sooo tired and hot. i guess he did too, and we woke up when it turned off. we watched another movie i hadn't seen, 'the man who knew too little', a very funny bill murray comedy. i had never heard of it, but i was cracking up laughing at his what-about-bob-like antics.
at this point we were both sitting on his gigantic bed. very comfortably. he has nice... pillows.
then we watched 'loaded gun', the spoof on lethal weapon and some other popular movies, full of cameos. tim curry and captain kirk were the bad guys - and completely ridiculous.
i had a hankering for dairy queen blizzards. and i mentioned it to donny and he took me right away. i couldn't figure out why he was being so nice to me. maybe he is just lonely there, or glad to see a familiar face. but he was being VERY sweet.

we went back and watched 'braveheart'. can you believe i'd never seen it? wow, THAT is a fantastic movie. romantic, suspenseful, dramatic, funny, and action-packed! we were curled up next to each other on the bed, and just talking about all sorts of stuff during and after the movie.
but NOTHING happened!
but for some reason i was glad nothing happened. it was all so romantic and comfortable and i have a lot of respect for him. after all, i've known him for over 13 yrs! and now i am completely confused about why he was treating me like a good friend instead of just his little bratty sister.
he got three hours of sleep, and went to the gym this morning. i woke up when he came back, and go ready for my drive home as he got ready for work.
who knows when i'll see him again.
but i am definitely thinking i want to move back to washington now. i just feel so much comfort being around my old friends that i feel like i'm home again even in the middle of nowhere.
i miss feeling that.

the trip back was SO much better than there. it was NOT as hot and i left much earlier. i was so tired, so i stopped at the starbucks in auburn for a soy latte and orange cranberry loaf. these two guys were trying to have a conversation w/ me. i was not in the mood.
then i stopped for gas in stockton and had a PibbXtra or something.
i stopped again around the fresno area at a red robin and had a chicken sandwich and fries (w/ teriyaki sauce), and a nice little nap while i was waiting for my food. i loved that a/c. i did a lot of stopping to get cold drinks and stand in the a/c. hehe.
service in all these different places was not too efficient. orders were wrong and forgotten and so on. but the SERVERS were soo nice that it was forgiveable. everybody i met this weekend was nice. and i met so many people because they were so nice and friendly!

i would NOT like to live in nevada though. boonies. and it was pretty darn hot. it was a nice dry heat though, so my hair looks awfully nice still. nice and smooth. woo woo. and it was good for my allergies. but not a place to stay for long.

now i'm watching sgt bilko w/ my dad. and he thinks one of the characters looks like jordan. mwahaha.
