i had the strangest dream last night. very vivid. it involved hamsters, kittens, and staying at some huge house where i had to take care of a bunch of kids, while the house was flooding, and my ex was there w/ his friend.
i had a lot of fun last night, and this dream was pretty unsettling.
i am tired of how i feel about him. i mean, he is acting like a jerk, and he has a BAD haircut, but i still have this urge to make excuses for him, to myself. i will never get the hang of the dynamics of my feelings. i am a control freak, and i go nuts when i can't control my feelings. but maybe over time, i will stop feeling for him. he is not the same person to me that he once was, and i need to really really believe this.
soon.
he is gradually falling from grace. thank god.
anyhow, this week was pretty good. i met up w/ a lot of people on campus, here and there. i went shopping monday at the westside pavillion after my appointment, and got three new pairs of pants (to fit me better), three shirts, and a new red velveteen hoodie. oh that is sooo soft and nice.
i met my aunt on tuesday to give her phone to her, at the century city mall. we had a nice little dinner and talk, and i showed her how to check her text messages.
i had forensic psych on wednesday morning. the prof was late, due to traffic, but when he came in the first thing he did was read a eulogy of sorts, perhaps an obituary, for his nephew. he had gone to wisconsin the week before, after his nephew had committed suicide at age 24. it brought my prof - and most the class - to tears.
i met jake at the 9/11 rememberance ceremony after class. i thought it would be nice to check out, and i wanted to support the event. and eat cookies. it was really hot, and we got sunburned, but i really enjoyed the poetry readings, and the theatre crew was pretty good.
i did sleep through one class, my 4 pm thurs class. i ALWAYS need a nap at that time. and thurs i had lunch w/ peter at cpk so i was really tired and i thought i'd just.... rest a minute.
anyhow, after i woke up - 3 hrs later - i went to my dad's for his bday. he is 49! sandy took us to the lucky boat - again - and this time i tried the sea urchin (uni). i had tried it years ago, but i dont really like the texture. it LOOKS like a cat's tongue, w/ the crease down the middle and the tiny bumps. but the texture of this was ok, so i had a little piece. i could get used to it. if that were necessary for survival.
then we went to the tea shop. then home for cake and tea. good creamy fruity soft white cake, w/ joke candles, from the wah bakery. i love chinese cake. we also watched an abc special on iran, and how the youth of iran are much more pro-american than most americans know. most iranians in general aren't as anti-american as bush would like us to think. what makes them anti-american is when the citizens are lumped together w/ islamic extremist groups that promote terrorism. that's like lumping all americans in w/ the kkk.
we watched a movie and then i went back my house, to go to a party at the apartments next door. jonny b and tons of old friends were there. that was broken up by the police helicopter and search light. hehe what a scene!
fri i had lunch w/ peter again, and jordan came along this time. i watched cnn and some oj simpson special on E!, and then an A&E show on the polly klaas case. finally jake came home, and we watched the simpsons, and went to get ben and jerry's, at ralph's. turns out that they didn't have cherry garcia, but they were having a sale. so we both got jerry's jubilee, which is supposed to be cherry garcia w/ the brownie ice cream. it wasn't cherry enough for me, but it was pretty good.
dano, peter, and kristin came over later. we watched tv, and ate brie and mini-toasts, as peter and jordan went to pick up shane. when they got back, a bunch of us played CLUE: the mystery beyond the mansion.
peter got really mad cuz things weren't going his way, and cuz one or so of the people playing weren't playing smart. i was also upset by something, but i wasn't about to make a scene. we can't always be without people we aren't comfortable w/, especially when other people that live w/ us invite them over, right?
after the game, and some wine (boxed and bottled), we went to kim's bday party. jessica was a great little hostess, giving out lots of hugs and approval. she was a dancing queen, too. it was an eclectic mix of people, and fun for the most part. especially the part where jordan left w/ vanessa. mwahaha.
gabe was on the phone w/ some obsessive chick and jake and i tried to spy on him. i had some of this 99 bananas, straight, after my ex showed up cuz i wasn't expecting him there at all. grrr. there was a ton of indecency, and i was worried that something on the scale of pornography would be happening, like at the orange house. i did not want to see any nudity, especially not the people who were looking like likely candidates.
some guy called my hair a dangerous weapon. he had really short hair, but he said it had been like mine at one point. i was not prepared for this conversation, so i looked for jake, my out, and ran.
he moved on to another girl w/in minutes. haha. i hope he had better luck there.
we left to taco del before 2, and that place was a mad hangout. i was pretty hungry too, and luckily that meal helped the long walk home seem much shorter. that and the ridiculous people walking on the row, that are always entertaining to watch.
i woke up to the sound of the tv this morning, as jordan was watching a sports channel at full blast. when i came down, jonny c was also there. we had some of my leftover cake and then i came here, to my dad's. and he is just now waking up. at 4pm. argh.
i think i want to see igby goes down.

:: Sunday, September 08, 2002 ::
last night my dad took me to caspian, a persian restaurant in irvine. there was a live band, and i was paying attention to his conversation with his pal, so i got to surprise him w/ my knowledge of farsi as i said "dad, you are too old for any of them."
there were a lot of attractive young women there, though.
just this weekend i learned half a dozen new words. : )
and i had the best pomegranate and walnut paste 'stew', w/ chicken, rice, and tahdig. it was sweet but a little sour, mmmmm so good. and they had me trying iranian beer.
eh it was just beer to me.
well now my bed is at my new place. the whole thing. thanks to ceci and her explorer. : ) she picked me up this morning and we took it over to LA. gabe was having auditions for his film, and there were random people up in my frontroom. then we went to sally's beauty supply and got some beautiful things, and then went to tap x. ceci had never had BOBA and i think it scared her. but she was a brave soul.
i went and did it. i TURNED MY CELL PHONE OFF. the whole account. no more 213 304 1329. i am gonna email out my new cell number and address this week, if we get internet service on wed. as planned.
so the story goes like this - the other day i got a new ATT account for my aunt, and negotiated a new contract for me. they mailed my aunt's phone to my mailing address, but it DIDn'T work. the battery wouldn't charge. so they were sending a new phone (should be here tuesday), and i was to send this one back. but today, i called AT & T to argue out my new 'contract'. my old service, WORLDCOM, went under (as you may have heard). worldcom had bought out airtime from various wireless services, and mine was through ATT. so i was being transferred to ATT and they promised me a new, cheaper package and this and that, with a membership dating back to my worldcom starting date. and i was wondering why this wasn't reflected in my new package. they said my info listed me as a NEW member and that i would not qualify for anything til 60 days of membership. but on the other hand, i don't get a new free phone like most new members do. i did get one for my aunt, w/ the new number i was getting her, but not w/ my older worldcom number.
that made NO sense to me. i could end my ATT plan and get a NEW ATT plan w/ a new phone for free. so why would i CONTINUE my plan, other than to keep my old number? no reason.
but today i didn't get to just call and negotiate. i was on hold for over half an hour. AND kept getting dropped from being on hold w/ an operator to hearing the machine tell me what it had told me when i first called - meaning i was BACK to the beginning hold and waiting for ANOTHER operator, to RETELL my whole situation. i had to talk to FOUR different people, to no avail. no free phone, no promotions.
so i said "close my accounts. both of them."
nothing in my life is stable hehe.
now when i get this new phone from ATT i just get to put it right back in the mail. god damn ATT.
i get off the phone almost an hour later, and turn to my dad and said "I am going to T-Mobile".
so we went, and the lady hooked us up phat.
i got my aunt and i the same plan for $42.98 each. 1000 'whenever' minutes, says catherine zeta-jones. unlimited weekends. free long distance and roaming. 500 text messages (incl AIM!). my old worldcom plan was about $50/mos PLUS long distance and roaming, for 600 weekday min and NO text.
not to mention my new phone. it is the phone i have seen around and i've been wanting. it is SWEET. a flip phone, w/ the caller ID on the outside, room for 500 phone numbers (so i dont have to erase numbers all the time to add more like i did w/ my old motorola, which only had room for 100 numbers). the motorola v.60, tri-band (if i just HAPPENED to move to asia or europe, i could take my phone w/ me and use it there). the casing is aluminum i think, and there is an voice recorder button on the outside so i can record conversations i have w/ people, like if i ask for directions or a phone number, or i want to BLACKMAIL anyone hehe. the battery will last so much longer than the stinking thing i have now!!!! and i will be able to talk for so much longer without worrying about long dist and air time!!! : )
it is SO cute, and after the mail in rebate which is already being mailed in, i pay $75! and it comes w/ a wall charger and car charger and belt clip.
the phone i got my aunt was my second choice, the Samsung R225M, because it has the blue screen and is really light weight. i paid $10 for it (including a leather case and belt clip), but i get an extra $80 BACK w/ that mail in rebate.
not to mention she got one $25 activation fee taken off for me!
so my dad started hitting on this lady that was helping us, and he invited her to dinner w/ us. but since she was already staying overtime w/ us, and her friends were all waiting outside, she took a 'rain check' and gave him her card.
oh, dad.
so we went to get the lucky boat again, and we had a dozen california roll leftover cuz we ate all the really good stuff first and saved that 'to go'.
i have to go back tuesday to get the phones, cuz this was the last day of their promotion, so they were sold out of the ones i wanted. : P but i WILL have the nice fancy new phones i wanted. very soon.
meanwhile i have studying to do, and tomorrow i have to get up REALLY REALLY early to get my latest, and HOPEFULLY LASTEST, ultrasound. i hate drinking 32 oz of water at 8am. it's ridiculous.
i am feeling much better lately, i think this new medication is working on me. let's hope they are all gone now. : )
